Summer is almost here, for most parts of the world! Some people may think that keeping cool can get expensive, but it doesn’t have to be. There are lots of ways to cool down this summer without going overboard on electricity and expenses.  Here are 5 helpful tips to get energy ready for this summer:

Consider installing a programmable thermostat

You can set the air conditioner to turn off at night when it’s pretty cool in the house already.

Open your windows

Fresh air can easily help cool down your place. Leave your windows open during the evening to let the cooler are in and keep the windows closed during the day to keep the warm air out.

Ceiling fans

These use less electricity compared to air conditioners and maximize air circulation.

Fill up your fridge

Your fridge doesn’t have to work as hard to stay cool when it’s full. Filling it with lots of food keeps it from warming up too fast when the door is open.

Replace your air conditioner filter

Dirty filters use more energy and restrict airflow causing your AC to run longer than it needs to.

Summer is a great time in BC to also think about getting solar panels installed on your home or business. And a great time to produce lots of power from the sun.
